Front v Back Game

00:31

Procedure

  • the back player starts with a boast
  • the front player plays any shot to the back (behind the T-line)
  • the back player plays any shot to the front

Allowed hits

  • straight drive, x-court drive and lob from the front
  • boast, volley-boast, drop-shot, volley drop-shot, kill, volley kill from the back

In principle the following applies

  • if the front player doesn't get the short ball, he'll usually loses the point
  • BUT only if the short shot bounces twice in the front half
  • this means, the back players loses the point if his short shot doesn't stay very short

Scoring method

PAR 11

Facilitation / Options

  • a short shot with second bounce in the back results in a let
  • play with a normal serve, return is short. Winner serves; like this, front and back role changes during the game

Complications / Options

  • the shot with his second bounce in the back is allowed
  • the straight drive may be shorter then normal (first bounce in front half)
